Al is a native of Rome, Georgia. He graduated from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1981 with a degree in accounting. While at Alabama, Al was named to the School of Accountancy Honors Board.

Al has been with Haynes & Moore, LLC since 1982, and was named a partner in 1988. He works with clients in the telecommunications, retail, construction, medical, manufacturing, real estate, conservation easement, and non-profit industries as well as with individuals in the areas of tax and estate planning.

Al is President of Summit Financial Group, LLC, a financial services company, providing the firm's clients and the public with asset management and life insurance services.
